Giorgio’s Pizzeria….San Francisco Pizza At Its Best!
Combining the Best of Ingredients for Every Generation.
Giorgio Anastasio started Giorgio’s Pizzeria on the corner of 3rd Ave. and Clement St. in San Francisco’s inner Richmond District in 1972.
Giorgio hailed from a successful Italian restaurant family with its roots in Ischia, a small island off of Naples in Italy, the birthplace of pizza many centuries ago.
After running his restaurant almost entirely by himself for the first few years, Giorgio found the workload to be overwhelming and turned to good friends for help.
The Contini family bought the business in 1978 and brothers Victor and Tony immediately established twin objectives: to maintain all of Giorgio’s recipes and techniques while maintaining high standards for customer service.
Longtime veterans of serving and cooking in many fine dining Italian restaurants, the Contini family pursued a happy medium between great food and efficient, fun, family-style table service.
Today, the next generation of the Contini family, managers and staff continue to make sure all of the original traditions that made Giorgio’s Pizzeria a successful San Francisco family favorite from the beginning are maintained, improved upon and kept current to meet our customers expectations today and into the future.
